Mission
The name "Vergent Software" required a lot of soul searching. Not only was every domain name under the sun already taken but we wanted something that represented what we were about. Vergent comes from the base word verge which according to dictionary.com means "the extreme edge or margin". In our mind it connotes working with new and emerging technologies that are on the edge of acceptance to bring meaningful value to our clients. We are never happier when we are playing with the latest and greatest however if we aren't solving real world problems we are not really contributing anything to our industry.
This investigative nature with a real world bent leads us to speak at a wide variety of industry conferences and publish articles about the technology we are checking out.
